Windows on Grace · Featured story

Hank, the Lamenting Hot Dog

One true story about rebellion, laughter, lost years, addiction, grace—and the ache of loving someone too late.

Some friendships are wild enough to make legends and fragile enough to leave regrets. Sometimes the boys we once were still grieve the men we became.

What is Windows on the Way?

Some things become windows.

A conversation. A loss. A ridiculous mistake. A meal. A marriage. A stranger. A place we’ve left behind.

Most of life arrives looking ordinary. But every so often something opens—and for a moment we glimpse more than we expected.

Windows on the Way is a place for those moments: stories, books and soul care for seeing life more deeply and walking it more faithfully.

Look closely. There may be more here than we thought.

The Way Soul Care

Eyes to See

Seeing the Kingdom in Ordinary Life

What if the problem isn’t that God is absent—but that we have forgotten how to see?

Eyes to See is an invitation to rediscover the kingdom of God hiding in plain sight—in beauty and sorrow, meals and marriages, gardens and graves, laughter and loss.

Part theology, part storytelling, and part field guide for ordinary life.

The Way Soul Care

An honest walk toward wholeness.

The Way Soul Care is pastoral companionship for people navigating grief, transition, relationships, ministry, questions of calling, or seasons when the old map no longer seems to work.

One step, one story, one sacred conversation at a time.

About

I’m Jay.

For most of my life I’ve been a pastor, teacher and companion to people trying to make sense of God, themselves and the strange business of being human.

These days I’m increasingly interested in stories—the small moments that crack something open and allow us to see what was there all along.

I’ve been a senior pastor, chaplain and coach. I’m still learning, still laughing, and still convinced that grace has a habit of showing up in places we nearly missed.
